We have been in Ghana for just over five days and the trip has been an amazing journey and eye-opening experience for me. I am accompanying Chris Bierbrier as photographer and writer to document the experience.
We have visited a number of schools, celebrated the matriculation of many of the students directly impacted by Routes to Africa, and cried because of the overwhelming gratitude the students, their families and their educators have expressed.
Yesterday, two young woman earnestly asked Chris, “please, what advice would you give girls?” and listened intently as Chris reminded them of the value of independence before embarking on marriage and bearing children.
The awareness of the difference Routes to Africa can make in these young lives is heartfelt and we end each day on an emotional note.
Please note that our internet connection has been very weak the past few days and will not allow us to upload photos at this time, but we should have a connection in the next few days to share images with you. Thank you for your patience.
